The Gordon Center for Simulation & Innovation in Medical Education is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Cred entialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. Learners must participate in 100% of the activity to be awarded 4 nurses contact hours.
Practical, Hands-on, 4-Hour Course
- Describe the significance of effective teamwork to good patient outcomes in a crisis response
- Define dynamic decision-making as it applies to crisis management
- Review the importance of role assignment, good communication, workload distribution, resource utilization, and situational awarenessin emergency response
- Define metacognition and relate this concept to successful crisis management behaviors equipment, and utilization in the clinical and non-clinical setting
- Demonstrate clinical skills and teamwork behaviors in four simulated scenarios

About the Gordon Center Prehospital and Hospital Training
The Gordon Center is a designated Center of Excellence of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. It was established more than 45 years ago for the application of advanced technology to medical education for medical students, physicians, physician assistants, nurses, paramedic/firefighters and instructors. More than 2,000 medical centers and agencies worldwide use the educational systems and training curricula developed at the Center. The Center occupies a 34,000 sq.ft. state-of-the-art facility, with the capability for simulation and design engineering, production and manufacturing. It houses a high technology auditorium, self-learning laboratory, standardized patient training area, emergency rescue vehicle, car for extrication of trauma victims, disaster response decontamination showers and mock emergency department.
The Gordon Center’s Prehospital and Emergency Healthcare Skills Training Programs train thousands of registrants per year at the Center and at 800 agencies in Florida, plus more than 1,400 in other states, and internationally. We train students in the following courses:
